Gwalior, located in the heart of India,Madhya Pradesh,is known for its magnificent fortresses, palaces and royal history. It is a rich legacy handed down to us by our ancestors.
Board the Chambal Express and set out on this adventurous trip.As you cross the boundary and enter Madhya Pradesh, you will be enchanted to see the serene beauty of the landscape-lofty hills, gushing rivers, lush green expanse of land stretching all over the countryside.Feel the tranquillity, the cool breeze lightly sweeping your face, the sound of running water in streams-you will find solace in the lap of nature. You reach Gwalior, stop at a hotel to relax and then set out on your historical tour. After passing winding roads, you reach a hill which you have to climb on foot.Upon climbing, you find numerous temples with exquisite carvings like Saas Bahu Temple,Urvashi Temple,Siddhachal Jain Temple Caves,Scindia School and its residential hostel with individual playgrounds for different games, you see students learning horse riding and swimming and then you reach the Gwalior Fort, popularly known as 'The Gibraltar of India'.You will be stunned at the sight of the massive fort, its beauty will enchant you.You will move forward but they will not let you inside. Then you start your journey towards Scindia Palace. It is marvellous, welcoming you in a grand way, with chariots of various sizes and designs on both sides of the entrance. You reach the courtroom. The beautiful chandelier catches your attention.Outside the room, you see beautiful paintings and intricate sculptures of kings and queens. You see stuffed lions and tigers hanging on walls. You enter the dining room and see a railway-like setup. Dishes are carried by small trains throughout the table. You are mesmerised by each and every thing. Then you visit the beautiful Sun Temple. You are pleased to see a number of peacocks lingering there. Then you visit Tansen's Tomb. You find a tree that has a myth associated with it.It is said that if you eat a leaf of the tree, then your voice will become sweet. You are quite stunned, aren't you?You return to the hotel. You depart from Gwalior with vivid memories which you will cherish throughout your life.
